Every year, the threats get a little more sophisticated, and so do the ways to protect yourself. We recently hosted Part 2 of our cybersecurity series with Mark Linton, President of [FinGarde](https://fingarde.com/), discussing three topics that affect just about everyone who lives on their phone, shares personal information online, or stores files digitally.

 

## What we covered

Does your smartphone leak more than you think?

Most of us carry a device that knows our location, our contacts, our banking apps, and more. Mark walked through what that data footprint looks like and what simple steps you can take to limit unnecessary exposure.

How public is your private life?

Social engineering (using publicly available information to manipulate people) is one of the most common and underestimated threats. We explored what information is out there about most of us and how bad actors use it.

What happens if your data vanishes tomorrow?

Data loss, ransomware, and device theft can all result in losing access to things that matter. This section covered practical backup strategies and what to do if something goes wrong.
