Fidelity Transition Reference Guide

We are excited to announce that the time has come to start moving your accounts from National Financial Services (NFS) + New Edge, directly to Fidelity!

As a quick recap, we are moving your account from NFS directly to Fidelity as our custodian, which is the institution that holds your assets. MA Private Wealth will continue to manage your portfolio. We will not be trading any of your accounts as a result of this move, or making any material changes.

Nothing will change with the way you interact with our team; we will continue to provide advice, investment management, and excellent service to you.

Our CEO, Marty Miller, discusses the change to Fidelity

Fidelity Change FAQ

01
Q:
What is the difference from National Financial Services (NFS) and Fidelity?
A:
NFS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fidelity Investments, so our accounts will remain under the Fidelity umbrella but will transition to the more widely known Fidelity Brokerage Services side.
02
Q:
When my accounts move to Fidelity, what changes for me?
A:
When we move the accounts from NFS to Fidelity, we will simply move them in-kind, meaning we will not be rebalancing or creating any material changes in the process. The one thing that does change immediately is that you will view your accounts on fidelity.com rather than wealthscapeinvestor.com.
03
Q:
What is Advisor 360?
A:
Advisor 360 is the Fidelity-approved digital system that we are using so clients can sign applications electronically. This process is simple and most importantly, very secure. We will only use Advisor 360 for this change from NFS to Fidelity.
04
Q:
Why is my mobile number needed for this change?
A:
Beginning January 1st, Fidelity requires both a valid email address and mobile number to open accounts. The reason for this is for enhanced security with cyber fraud attempts on the rise. Your mobile number adds a layer of security on top of your email by allowing Fidelity to send you a one-time code for authentication. Fidelity will not be using your mobile number to send you spam or unwanted text messages or phone calls.
05
Q:
Why did you choose Fidelity as the new custodian?
A:

Fidelity is a robust platform that is both user-friendly and very secure. It is widely used for retirement accounts such as 401ks and equity compensation, which makes it familiar to most clients. They offer both a website and a mobile app that are easy to navigate.

We also chose to go directly to Fidelity to clear up the confusion between New Edge and NFS. Rather than two companies on the administrative back end, we will now only have one.

06
Q:
How long will the transfer take once I sign?
A:
Once you e-sign your applications, we will review and submit to Fidelity on your behalf. From there, you can expect your new accounts to be opened and funds transferred within 3-4 business days.
07
Q:
What communications should I expect from Fidelity?
A:

Once we process your Fidelity applications, you will receive a welcome email from Fidelity outlining their custodial service. They will also send communications about account features, such as adding your phone number to your account, eDelivery, and standing money movement.

The only action that you need to take is to select "I agree" on the eDelivery email. We strongly recommend that you maintain eDelivery for your documents in order to protect your sensitive information.

08
Q:
How do I register for Fidelity to see my accounts?
A:

You can visit Fidelity.com, select Log In, then Register or you can use this link to directly access the registration page.

If you have ever had an account associated with Fidelity, perhaps a 401k or brokerage account, you may simply use your existing credentials to access your new accounts.

Additionally, you can download the Fidelity app from the App Store or on Google Play - the app is very user friendly!
